Really. Where does inspiration come from? You know the times when it's absent, or worse, forced?
Last night, I was straightening up when it hit. It hits like lightening. It's compelling. You can't stop and you don't know where you're going. Maybe you see a bit of it, and you chuckle to yourself, and then, you keep going and going until…..
This is for Andi's Pocketful. The page is called Chester's First Success. Apparently there was, as my children like to say, this dude named Chester. He wanted to be a children's clothing designer, but no one would give him the time of day.
Finally, Chester designed a dress that was so fabulous he received the critical acclaim and financial rewards he had always desired.
It ended well.
That Chester. What a guy.
I have no earthly clue where any of it came from. But it was a compelling force. At 2:00 am when I finished, it was a bit like coming out of a fugue state. I put the finishing touches on this morning, but the story told itself.
Bravo! I love it!
For me, it’s not so much inspiration that can be a problem. Or the lack thereof. It’s motivation, organization, finding the time the create.
As a mother of four, with a full-time job, perhaps you would be willing to do a post on “managing time and making art.” It’s an ongoing dilemma with me.
Have a great weekend!
What a fun time you must have had channeling Chester! It’s a delightful piece.
